LessLawn welcomes your article submissions! If you are a naturalistic gardener, landscape designer, or natural scientist, we'd like to read about your experiences. If you don't have much experience with naturalistic landscaping, use your research and writing skills to teach our readers more about how or why to SHRINK their lawns.

We'd like to see:

  • personal experience of growth habits and effective companions for specific native plants;

  • case studies (in a private garden, a residential or commercial development, a school, a park or preserve,...) of created or restored natural landscapes;

  • techniques for designing, establishing, and maintaining naturalistic landscapes;

  • benefits and challenges of naturalistic landscapes, particularly compared with lawn, asphalt, or other typical landscape elements; and

  • other topics that fit our readers' interests.

We consider texts of any length, though we may wish to publish longer articles as a series. Please paste your article's text into the body of an email. We do not open unsolicited attachments. Include a sentence or two of biographical information and, if possible, one or two links to your other writings.

If your material was previously published, we will still consider it, but please let us know--when you submit it--where and when it was published.

By submitting text for our consideration, you affirm that it is your work and you hold the copyright, and you agree to hold LessLawn.com, our editors, and Webseed Publishing harmless against any and all claims that may arise from publishing it. You grant us one-time electronic rights and the right to electronically archive your article.

You retain the copyright to your work and may publish or distribute it elsewhere at any time.

We retain the right to edit submissions to fit our standards for form and content. However, we promise to email you with our proposed changes before publishing a revised version of your text. We will not publish a version you have not approved.

Alas, we cannot pay writers in cash at this time. However, we gladly include a short biographical note after each article that can include up to two links to websites that provide more information about you, your writings, or your work related to topics within our scope.

So let's hear from you! E-mail the editor with your submission. If you have any questions or comments regarding our submission process, please let us know.

These guidelines may change without notice, so please return to this page for the latest update. Thanks for your interest in contributing to LessLawn.
